Poached Spiced Pears

1 quart red or white wine

1 cup apple cider

2 Tbsp honey

1 star anise

1 cinnamon stick

5 cloves

1 orange, slice the peel and juice the orange

4-5 fresh pears, peeled, halved and cored

 

In a pot bring to a boil the wine, apple cider, honey, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, orange peel and juice. Turn down the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Carefully add the pears to the poaching liquid. Simmer until pears are soft. Enjoy warm!
